Back to where it all began.

Right now I’m sitting in my old room, in my old bed, in my old city. I’m back home in Adelaide to see friends and family, most of all, my Mother. I want to make sure everyone is coping.

It feels really strange being home. Nothing has really changed. Everything and everyone is the same, yet I’ve changed so much. New York has altered the way I think and the way IĀ perceiveĀ things. I’m seeing this old city with fresh eyes and realise that I probably don’t belong here anymore, but I think I knew that before I left.

Seeing my Mother for the first time since I left and she had a shaved head and was deep in to chemotherapy a couple days ago. We cried for about 30 minutes before we were both able to articulate exactly what we wanted to say to each other. She is a strong woman and is in good spirits. She’ll beat this, we all know it.

I’m heading back to NYC in 2 weeks. That will give me time to spend with Mum, friends and family. I’ve sorted Mum out an iPhone so I can be there for her when I can’t physically be by her side.
